LSU basketball player Angel Reese made quite the headlines after her team won their first-ever championship trophy in April. The 21-year-old star forward found herself under scrutiny after she made the controversial “You can’t see me” gesture during the finals against the Iowa Hawkeyes. It has been several weeks since the incident took place and Reese has now reportedly joined the ranks of star athletes Serena Williams and Simone Biles following a major deal.
The “Bayou Barbie” previously attended Maryland but she eventually transferred to LSU after two years. Following her outstanding performance during the 2023 Finals, Reese quickly paved her way to stardom despite facing backlash from half of the sports world for ‘taunting’ Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.
About a week after winning the championship title, Angel Reese’s valuation skyrocketed to $1.3 million as per On3 Sports, making her one of the most popular rising basketball stars. It has only been a month since Reese became the highest-valued player in women’s basketball and her valuation has only increased since then. According to Sports Illustrated, Reese has signed a deal with SI as their 2023 swimsuit model and will soon debut in their upcoming issue.
This has boosted her NIL valuation from $1.3 million to $1.4 million in just a matter of a few weeks. Before becoming SI’s swimsuit model, Reese had deals with several big brands including Mercedes-Benz Baton Rouge, Amazon Merch on Demand, and McDonald’s.
By signing the contract, Reese has not only become $100,000 richer but also joined the elite list of past SI models that include tennis legend Serena Williams and star gymnasts Simone Biles and Olivia Dunn, who had only joined recently.
