At the beginning of March, more than one Southeast Asian countries cried foul after Singapore struck an exclusivity deal for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in the region. Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin publicly claimed that Singapore had paid Swift up to $3 million (Rs24.8 crore approx) for each of her six shows there, but the Singapore govt later said the amount wasn’t that high. Irrespective of the amount, the pop icon’s shows have generated huge revenues in multiple countries, including the US which projected a $4.6 billion boost to its economy from ticket sales, travel, merchandise and more. The term is being largely used to describe the impact and influence of Taylor Swift’s global tour on economic conditions, especially boosting some local economies in the US and also resulting in a rise in travel, hospitality and retail purchases around her shows in various countries.

A celebration of Swift’s 10 studio albums, this global tour is set on a massive scale with 152 shows happening across five continents between March 2023 and December 2024. Each show has 44 songs and is over three hours long.
