Iga Swiatek is looking to add another Porsche to her collection

Defending champion Iga Swiatek has suggested that she will be honouring her entry into the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Swiatek was absent from the Miami Open through injury and returned home to Poland to recuperate.

However, she has indicated that she will be making her way to Stuttgart for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Swiatek hinted that she will be in Germany soon during a discussion with Skier Mikaela Shiffrin.

The world No 1 has enjoyed great support from her fans in Stuttgart and she has named the event as one of her favourites.

“I loved the atmosphere in Stuttgart last year and am looking forward to this one”, she said.

‟I especially appreciate tournaments so close to Poland because my fans can support me on-site and it makes the atmosphere even better; so, I’m happy confirm I’m going to play there in 2023.”

Tournament Director Markus Günthardt was thrilled at the prospect of Swiatek returning.

“The world’s top tennis player is set to appear at the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Iga Swiatek, the undisputed world No. 1 in women’s tennis and the WTA’s Player of the Year, will be aiming to successfully defend the title she won this year when returning to the long-standing Stuttgart tournament in the Porsche Arena from 15 to 23 April.

Stuttgart The 21-year-old Pole was the 2022 season’s top player. Before triumphing for the first time at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April, she won the tournaments in Doha, Indian Wells and Miami. After her success in the Porsche Arena, the world No. 1 claimed the Grand Slams in Paris and New York and bagged the tournaments in Rome and San Diego.

“She won a total of 67 matches during the year. From February to June, she went on a 37-match winning streak – the longest series of victories in women’s tennis since Martina Hingis in 1997.

“She was only recently named by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) as its Player of the Year.”
