Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, tweeted a response to Aaron Rodgers’ calling her son ‘Kermit the Frog’ in banter. She briefly waded into the banter before quickly deleting the tweet. Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady will be facing off in a golf match against Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
The Match is an exhibition golf match, with the 2022 version being held in Nevada. Tom Brady (Buccaneers) and Aaron Rodgers (Packers) team up against Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Josh Allen (Bills).
The lead-up to 2022’s The Match has seen some good banter between the two teams. All the players know each other, making the banter more interesting.
Did Randi Mahomes think Rodgers insulted Patrick Mahomes?
One such instance of banter, wherein Rodgers called Mahomes ‘Kermit the Frog’, saw Randi Mahomes wade in with her opinion on the matter. Rodgers had called out Mahomes/Allen, saying the newer generation of players had not faced the sort of trash-talking that veterans like him and Brady had seen during the early years of their career.
“When you talk about Kermit the Frog (Mahomes) and Josh (Allen) trying to s— talk me and Tom, a couple of old-school grizzled vets … come on,” Rodgers said.
In response to the direct call out to her son, Mahomes’ mum, Randi, tweeted, “Not Cool.” However, she took down the tweet soon after, probably realizing that Rodgers made the comments in good humor rather than as an insult.
Many NFL fans jokingly refer to Mahomes as ‘Kermit the Frog’, finding his voice like the friendly children’s character.
Rodgers also said, “They better have some prepared material that’s written by Bill Burr and Brian Regan or some s—. They’re not going to be able to hang with Tommy and I.”
Tom Brady also added his bit to the banter by adding, “Josh really hasn’t backed much up on the football field in his career, let’s be honest, especially playing against me… Patrick, although he’s played a lot of great games, he didn’t really win the important ones… I’ve been doing this too long. Too damn long!”
Fans are excitedly awaiting The Match on June 1, with the exhibition and the days before likely to provide further verbal jousting between the two groups of QBs.
