This was the 149th edition of the Kentucky Derby, with some of the greatest jockeys participating from across the world. The winning prize of $3 million was contested among 19 participants trying to exhibit “The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports”. This year, it was the NFL quarterback delivering the opening command.
Mahomes took over this job from Louisville native and famous American rapper, Jack Harlow, who kicked off the race in 2022. “Ladies and gentlemen, the city of Louisville, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and sports fans worldwide. I have been waiting for this moment. Riders up!” Mahomes announced.
