Simone Biles is one of the most accomplished gymnasts in American history. She is very well known for her cat-like reflexes and her greatness is evident from her 4 gold medals in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and 2 bronze and 1 silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. But not just her career, Biles is a winner in her personal life as well as she recently got married to the love of her life, Jonathan Owens.

The couple tied the knot on April 22, 2023. While the couple had been planning their dream wedding since the middle of 2022, they finally obtained their marriage license on April 14, 2023, and got married a week later on the 22nd. So many fans may wonder how did the couple come across each other for the first time? While Biles is a gymnast based out of Texas, Ownes plays for the NFL team, Houston Texans. Although it is hard to believe, the couple did not come across each other for the first time in real life.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens were in close proximity during a 2019 NFL game. However, the couple truly came to know each other in March 2020. According to a report from People, the couple met each other virtually at first as she matched with Owens in a dating app called Raya. Biles found Owens attractive right from the beginning as she was the first one to drop a message.

Jonathan replied and the couple started chatting. While the world shut down soon after due to COVID-19 Pandemic, it provided the couple with the opportunity to get to know each other pretty well. The couple hung out at each other’s respective houses pretty regularly as their dogs also played together. According to Owens, his dog was a big fan of Biles’ company.

Speaking about knowing Biles’ popularity in an episode of Simone vs Herself, Owens added, “When I met her, I honestly didn’t know who she was. It was just kind of like, ‘Oh, she’s got a lot of followers. You know, she must be pretty good or something.’”
